Fred "F.O." Oppezzo, 75, of Los Altos, CA has been a star athlete on many teams. On October 26, 2018 he was called up to another league to play on the Angels. He took the offer after going extra innings during his last game with a walk-off, at home surrounded by his family.

Fred provided his wife Georgette, daughters Jennifer (Steve) and Marily, brother Tim, grandkids Chase and Dean many joyous, energetic and love-filled memories. Always a coach, he humbly shared wisdom ("listen to the experts, then do it your way") and he brought the vigor of athletics and the generosity of an optimistic spirit to everyone he met.

Fredwas born inSan Mateo, CA on May 5, 1943. He was a student athlete at Serra High School and went on to UCSB were he earned his teaching degree in 1966.He completed his Master's Degree at Stanford in 1967 and began workingas aHigh School teacher/coach at Los Altos High School, transferring to Awalt/Mountain View in 1972.

Fred was a beloved teacher for 37 years — a role-model coach for many championship teams at all levels from T-ball to college. His home was a refuge for many. He is a deeply loved husband, dad, grandpa, brother, and uncle. He joins parents Fred and Theresa Oppezzo and sister Sandra. His legacy echoes in many hearts. Fred's bright light of life will be celebrated in a memorial service at St. William Church, 611 S. El Monte Ave. in Los Altos on Dec. 1, 2018 at 12:30 PM. Afterwards, there will be a memorial gathering at Foothill College Gym at 12345 El Monte Rd, Los Altos Hills.
