Obituary of Fred L. Montgomery

Fred Le Roy Montgomery, 81, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, June 10, 2015. He passed away at the VA Hospital in Palo Alto, California, after a 2 & 1/2 year battle with colon/liver cancer. Born in Denver, Colorado, October 23, 1933, to Freda Louise (Kevelin) and Archie Arnold Montgomery, Fred attended schools in Denver, Portland, Oregon, and Arcata, California. After graduation from the University of Denver, he joined the Marine Corps and became a jet pilot. He went on to earn a MA in Speech and Audiology, but pursued a career in the paper distribution business. Joining Carpenter/Offutt Paper Company in 1968, he moved the family to Los Altos Hills, where Fred resided for 47 years. Fred is survived by his wife of 62 years, Emma Lou (Dudymott) Montgomery and his children, Christy Cole (Brad), Cheryl Pace (Jim), Steve Montgomery (Cheryl), five grandchildren; Amy Brown (Derek), Megan Cole, Jarod Pace (Tiffany), Crystal Snell (Chris), Aaron Pace (Amanda), and 6 great grandchildren; Colton and Easton Brown, Mason and Alana Pace, Addison Snell, and Luke Pace. A celebration of Fred's life will be held Sunday, June 28, 2015 at 4:00pm, Bridges Community Church, 625 Magdalena Avenue, Los Altos, California with a reception following.
