Franca Rosa was "Nonna" to her grandson, Matthew, and "Mom" to Marco and Nancy.  She departed peacefully from her loving family and joined our Lord in heaven on February 25, 2023, at 94 years old.

Franca was born on August 4 ^th , 1928, to Luisa and Donato Donati in Frosinone Italy outside of Rome, and was the youngest of two daughters. She went to college in Rome and became a teacher in her younger years. She married Domenic Rosa in January of 1947 at St. Peter's Cathedral and then moved to Connecticut, United States. Their only son Mark Rosa was born in 1950 during Dom's military assignment while in Japan.

She and her family traveled the world and lived in places such as Germany, Japan, and United States before settling back in Rome in 1979. Franca was proud to have become the Director of USO center in Rome and in her earlier years also volunteered for the Red Cross and since she was a military wife, she really understood their needs.

Franca and Dom's life led them to visit many countries due to his UN assignments. She truly loved to travel and spent her time in places such as France, India, and parts of Africa. Her husband passed away in 1985 so she retired and spent the next 30 years in Rome with friends who became part of her family. She had annual summer visits to Ischia, Italy with her friends and family. She loved being called "Nonna" by her grandson Matthew and always made sure to visit on holidays. She enjoyed entertaining guests at her apartment in Rome, cooking, going to the opera, theatre, classical music performances and dinners.

Franca moved to Northern California in 2015 to be closer to her family and lived for over 11 years at Sunnyview Retirement Center in Cupertino, CA. During her years in California she enjoyed the beach and spending time with her family. She created many long-lasting friendships at Sunnyview with staff and the residents, which she talked about often.

She is survived by her only son, Marco, her daughter-in-law Nancy, and her grandson Matthew. Franca will be remembered by her family and friends as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her warm spirit and sense of hospitality will live on through the people she touched. Over the years her friends and family who visited her in Rome said she was an incredible hostess and chef.

A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be held at the Community Center at Sunnyview Retirement Home in Cupertino at on Thursday, March 23 at 2: 30P.M. followed by a reception until 4:30 P.M.
