Obituary of Eppie Cheuk-Fong Lam

Longtime Los Altos resident and realtor Eppie Cheuk-Fong Lam passed away at her home peacefully but unexpectedly on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at the age of 76. She was born February 12, 1941 in Kowloon, Hong Kong to Yuk-Hing and Kwai-Yin Chung as the youngest of 8 children, and lived there until moving to Canada to attend the University of Toronto where she earned a BA in 1967.

Upon graduation, Eppie moved to Boston and married Dr. David K. Lam, with whom she separated in 1995 and later divorced. In 1969, Eppie earned a Medical Records Administration certificate from Northeastern University and then embarked on a successful 15-year career in the medical field. She served as Director of Medical Records at Carney Hospital in Boston, and after moving to the Bay Area in 1973, spent over a decade as a medical records consultant to convalescent hospitals across the Peninsula.

Since the mid-1980's, Eppie has been active in Los Altos real estate as an investor, developer and realtor. She earned her real estate license in 1992 and joined Coldwell Banker Residential where she served countless clients in the Bay Area out of the Los Altos Branch for over 25 years, proudly earning International President's Elite honors on many occasions. She remained an active agent at the time of her passing with multiple escrows closed in 2017.

Eppie was involved in the local community, serving as Founding President and Board Member of the South Bay Chapter of Self-Help for the Elderly, establishing a senior community center in the Peninsula. She was a Board Member of the Chinese Historical and Cultural Project in San Jose and Co-Chair of its Ground-Breaking Committee. She was a Committee Member of the Community School of Music and Member of the Woodside-Atherton Auxiliary.

Eppie is survived by her loving sons and daughter-in-law, Jesun Lam of Cupertino, and David Jekit Lam and Grace Wu Lam of Los Altos, her four grandchildren Madeleine, Sophie, Lucie and William, her sisters Serena Chung and Lena Chung-Tsang, and her brothers Kam Pang Chung and Wing Hong Chung. The family would like to thank John Johnson for four decades of personal friendship, business partnership and Christian fellowship to Eppie.

The family will host a viewing on Thursday, October 5th from 3-5pm and a celebration of Eppie's life at 11am on Friday, October 6th, both held at the Los Altos Chapel of Spangler Mortuary. Interment will take place after the memorial service at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Los Altos. All of Eppie's associates and friends are warmly welcomed to attend.
