Obituary of Elaine Padilla Mitchum

Born in Martell, CA on June 14, 1924, Elaine Padilla Mitchum peacefully passed through Heaven's gates on June 8, 2012 at the age of 87. A devoted homemaker, Elaine was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. She was an avid fan of both the San Francisco 49ers football and Giants baseball teams. Elaine was a nurturer and enjoyed helping others. Elaine was preceded in death by her loving husband, Obed ("Mitch") in 1982. He was the love of her life and she remained devoted to him until her passing. Elaine is survived by two sons; Mike Mitchum and his wife Cindy, and Marvin Mitchum and his wife Laurie. She is also survived by her grandson, Troy Mitchum and his wife Cindy; and two great-grandchildren, Kailli Mitchum and Cole Mitchum. Elaine cherished her time with her sisters. She is survived by three sisters, Gloria Goldberg, Mary "Babe" Gallardo, and Annie "Chat" Rollans. Their children, grandchildren, and many, many others will miss their beloved "Tita Lane". Elaine had many close friends over the years that were very special to her. All of her family extends sincere gratitude to each of them for their devoted friendship. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 14 from 9:00am-11:00am at Spangler Mortuary, 174 N. Sunnyvale Ave., Sunnyvale. Funeral service will be held at 11:00am after visitation. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Los Altos, where Elaine wll be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Obed "Mitch" Mitchum. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association.
