Dorothy
Toulson
January 11, 1925 – October 21, 2023
Dorothy Toulson, long time resident of Los Altos, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2023. She was born in Seattle Washington in 1925 and moved with her parents, James and Minnie Chisholm, and brother Lorne, to the Bay Area when she was still a young girl. After graduating from Burlingame High School in 1942, she worked briefly for United Airlines, before meeting and marrying Richard "Dick" Toulson in 1945. During World War II she contributed to the war effort by volunteering for the Civil Air Patrol.
Dick's employer, Pan American Airways, took them around the world. They were stationed in Bangkok, Barranquilla Colombia, Hawaii and briefly in Australia. In 1954 they settled permanently in Los Altos where they raised their two children. They continued to travel around the world whenever possible.
Dorothy logged 17,967 hours over 45 years as a volunteer "Pink Lady" with the El Camino Hospital Auxiliary. She served in many different capacities but enjoyed her role as buyer for the hospital gift shop the most.
She spent her last years residing at the Terraces of Los Altos where she made many friends and was very well cared for. She loved reading, drawing, anthropology, all things British, golden retrievers, clothes and shopping. It was a good life.
She is survived by her two children, Pearce Toulson of Los Altos and Dana Leech of Whitefish Montana.
