Donald Moody, 92 years of age and a 70- year Sunnyvale resident, passed away on August 4,

2020 after a short illness. He was born to William Bradley and Annie Evelyn Moody in Oakland

CA in 1928. Don graduated from Oakland Technical High School in 1945. The same year he met

his wife, Ila, and they were married on August 4, 1947.

Don is survived by his daughter, Deborah Whaley (John) of Rio Vista and son David (Carmel) of

Los Gatos. He also leaves 4 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 4 nephews, 2 nieces, and

several grand nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, William and Gordon,

and a sister, Vera. He was also predeceased by his wife, Ila, in 1990.

From 1949 until 1984 Don was employed at Ames Research Center, NASA, in Mountain View.

He worked first as a machinist, and soon became the first scientific glassblower at Ames. He

enjoyed being involved in the space program.

Don was a 70- year member of the Odd Fellows, and, for the last number of years, a member of

Cupertino Lodge #70. He was also a longtime member of Crosswalk Community Church in

Sunnyvale.

A service in celebration of his life will be held early nextyear when we are once again able tosafely gather.
