Dave Schricker, 88, passed away on April 7th after a long illness. He is survived by his wife Jeri of 62 years, a daughter Heidi and son Rick. A son Kurt predeceased him. Dave was born in Davenport, Iowa the third son of Ray and Hertha Schricker. He attended Davenport schools and earned a degree in Economics at Yale University on a Navy RNOTC scholarship.

After graduation he began his commission serving on destroyer escort ships USS Bauer out of San Diego and later the USS Fletcher out of Hawaii and was discharged as a lieutenant commander. He was always proud of his military service and thought the Navy was a real growing up experience.

In 1961 Dave enrolled in Boalt Hall, Berkeley's Law School. The desire to become a lawyer had persisted since grade school when he watched the McCarthy hearings on TV. He graduated from Berkeley in 1964 and after a short stint in a private firm, began practice in Red- wood City as Deputy City Attorney. Two years later he was appointed City Attorney and became the youngest city attorney (then) in California. In 1981 he shifted to private practice keeping Redwood City as a client but expanding his firm to include other municipalities as well as maritime and district law clients.

Dave and his wife managed to travel widely beginning with a trip to Moscow and Leningrad in 1975. They traveled by bike, by cruise or by hiking and always meeting the citizens of other worlds were part of the adventure. Dave was also a committed athlete swimming up to two miles on his lunch hour and bicycling 30 miles on weekends. He was an active member of Redwood City Rotary Club and the First Congregational Church and following a move to Los Altos became a member of Foothills Congregational Church. He will be greatly missed.

Memorial services will be held Friday, May 3rd at 11a.m. at Foothills Congregational Church, 461 Orange Avenue in Los Altos. A reception in the Parish Hall will follow. All are invited to attend.
