Obituary of Daphne Alyse Knecht

Daphne Alyse Knecht was born on May 25, 1988, to Douglas and Vickie Knecht in Alma, Michigan. the Knechts moved first to Ohio and then to California when Daphne was three years old. Daphne attended Armona Union Academy from Kindergarten through grade nine. In 2003, the family relocated to Mountain View, CA where she attended Mountain View Academy and graduated in 2006. Daphne attended southern Adventist University in Collegedale, Tennessee for three and one half years, where she was a member of SAU Gym Masters (an acro-sport team which promotes a drug-free healthful lifestyle) until January 2010 when she returned home to begin treatment for a brain tumor. The following school year, Daphne transferred to Andrews Univeristy in Berrien Springs, Michigan where she entered a major in Health and Fitness and joined the AU Gymnics, again focusing on her passion for gymnastics. In June of 2011, Daphne again returned home after symptoms from her tumor began to reappear. She underwent additional chemo-therapy and radiation treatments during the summer and began a correspondence course in her quest to become a personal trainer. Her advancing illness resulted in her being hospitalized in December of 2011 ad again in January of 2012. She passed into rest on January 20, 2012. Daphne is survived by her parents, Douglas and Vickie (Greenleaf) Knecht; her brother and sister-in-law, Donnie and Andrea Knecht; her niece, Rory Jo; her brother, Derek Knecht; and her boyfriend of four years, Eric Paddock. Other survivors include her grandparents, Floyd and Betty Greenleaf, Grandmother, Margaret Knecht; Grandfather, David Knecht; and numerous aunt, uncles, and cousins.
