In Loving Memory
Cary Pincus, beloved father, husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away suddenly on Thursday October 1st, 2026. He was at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory where he had worked for almost 20 years as a scientist and lead engineer in X-ray radiography and computed tomography.
Cary was born in Brooklyn, New York on June 24, 1959 to Donald and Roberta Pincus, and raised in Wantagh where he and his friends could ride their bikes to Jones Beach. He loved the ocean, body surfing, and collecting sea shells. Cary met his wife and love of his life Stacie Bowman while they were both enrolled in Georgia Tech's co-op (work/study) program. He graduated with a BS in Physics.
They were married in 1988 and bought a house in Sunnyvale, California, where they raised their three children: Alexandra, Derek, and Samantha, who were his pride and joy. His greatest love was spending time with his family; coaching soccer, playing ultimate frisbee, riding bikes, and traveling the world. Cary also loved gardening and planted many fruit trees, sharing their bounty with neighbors, friends, and co-workers. His Thanksgiving pies were legendary, as were his chocolate almond cakes.
Cary will be loved and remembered for his kindness, positive outlook, quick wit, fierce intelligence, undying loyalty, and innate sense of justice. As a lifelong blood donor, please consider donating blood to the Stanford Blood Center or your local blood bank in his honor.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to: Plant a Tree, the American Heart Association, or the ACLU.
A Memorial Celebration will be held on Saturday, October 24th at 11am at Spangler Mortuary, 799 Castro Street, Mountain View, CA 94041, followed by an informal picnic at Braly Park in Sunnyvale. Casual attire encouraged.
