Brooke Elizabeth
Schryver
May 28, 1997 – May 29, 2022
Brooke Elizabeth Schryver passed away tragically on Sunday, May 29, 2022 while following her dreams hiking the Lost Coast Trail near Shelter Cove in Humboldt County.
Born in Santa Clara, California to Cristina and Ray Schryver on May 28, 1997, Brooke graduated from Homestead High School and earned degrees in Park Management and Anthropology from West Valley Community College where she established the Park Management Club. An Anthropology and Environmental Science & Management student at Cal Poly Humboldt, she planned to educate the young and inspire citizens to become protectors of our planet through environmental education and interpretation with the National Park Service.
A naturalist with a deep love of all living things, Brooke enjoyed exploring the outdoors and was dedicated to protecting the environment. She delighted in caring for and sharing California's natural beauty.
Brooke liked to be busy and was always involved in a myriad of activities. She was a talented photographer who found beauty in ordinary things, an avid cook and a poet. She was a hard worker and volunteered extensively with multiple environmental groups.
Brooke met life eagerly with open arms and a happy, giving heart. She took pleasure in thoughtful gestures and encouragement of others. She always empathized and comforted, never passing judgement. Brooke had a pure and loving heart, one of the many reasons she was so easy to love.
In addition to her parents, Brooke is survived by her brother, Kyle, her grandparents, Ida and Richard DeField of Carmichael, CA, Judy and William Schryver of Lockport, NY, her aunt and uncle, Laurie and Stephen Moore of Austin, TX, extended family and many friends who are heartbroken by her loss.
