Bill Eugene
Fitzpatrick
October 14, 1947 – June 15, 2024
Bill E Fitzpatrick Jr passed away peacefully on June 15, 2024, at El Camino Health – Mountain View Hospital in Mountain View, California. He was born in 1947 in Rend City, just outside of Benton, Illinois, on his grandmother's kitchen table. He played the trombone in the high school band and also played on the high school football team. He loved to fish and would go any chance he could. When he finished high school, the nation was at war in Vietnam and he enlisted in the US Navy. He served on the USS Long Beach and was present when she escorted the Queen Mary to its current resting place in the Long Beach, California harbor. During his service he received extensive training in nuclear power which provided him a successful career when he left the service.
Bill loved to try different foods and was a connoisseur of his favorites, especially BBQ, and nothing was ever too spicy. Frequently he experimented with recipes, which usually turned out delicious, but he never wrote them down so they were usually a one-shot deal.
He was an avid sportsman and loved football and his beloved Giants baseball team. He also enjoyed driving across the country and stopping anywhere that met his or Shirley's fancy. They especially enjoyed visiting the National Parks.
In his golden years he kept himself busy going on walks with his wife and dogs, stopping frequently to talk with all his neighbors. In addition, he served as the president of his condo association, and took pride in implementing many changes that benefited the entire complex.
In 1967 he married Linda Hansen and had three daughters, Amy, Dyan and Cyndi.
In 1978 he married Marie Meisner and had a daughter, Mariah and a son, Rory.
In 1987 he married Shirley Rector and the two bred and raised Shih-Tzhu dogs.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Shirley, his brother Brian and his sister Joy. He is also survived by his 5 children, his 12 grandchildren and his 3 great grandchildren. In his final days, he wished his children to know that he loved them very much.
Service will be full military honors at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery on August 9, 2024 at 2:00pm.
