Betty Lee Lucas Born May 8, 1931 in Auburn, Nebraska, Died February 20, 2012 in Sunnyvale, CA Surviving Children: 3 sons- John, James, Jerry, daughter - JoAnne Jones Preceded in Death by husband Octavio and son Jeffrey.Grandchildren: Matthew, Anne Marie, Christopher, Tommy, Joanne. Great Grandchildren: Matthew Jr., Mercedes, Maximus, Archer Surviving Sister: Joy Ramies. Betty at age three, with her younger sister Joy, traveled with their Aunt Lil on a train from Auburn, Nebraska to San Francisco, CA. Her dream was to live on a farm. Her dream came true. As a young teenager, she moved to beautiful Portola Valley, CA where Marian Garcia gave her a home and job. Betty worked as a waitress for Mama Garcia's Restaurant. She helped around the farm milking cows and feeding hundreds of turkeys at the Garcia's family farm. Betty graduated in 1949 from Sequoia High in Redwood City, CA. Octavio and Betty's first date was at a USO dance and soon married in 1950.Betty moved to her current home in 1956. She was a homemaker for 62 years. Betty's greatest pleasures were gardening and cooking for her family. Betty was a kind and gracious host, you always left her home with a warm heart and a full stomach. Later in life, Western movies became a favorite. She loved to shop for groceries and knew and loved all the employees at every store. Her favorite restaurant was Barbara's Fish Trap in Half Moon Bay, CA. She loved to go places, whether it was to Stevens Creek or Colorado. Betty converted in 1971 and attended mass at St. Simon's of Los Altos and our Lady of Peace in Santa Clara, CA. We will miss her bright and sunny smile.
