Obituary of Benjamin Liclican Hufana

LOVED AND MISSED, SO MUCH.. Born in Baguio City, Philippines, 77 years old, the eldest of 7 children born to Hilaria and Petronilo Hufana. Died peacefully surrounded by his family in San Jose, Ca. Preceded in death by his parents, Grandson- James Christopher, Great Grandsons- Christian and Elijah and Granddaughter- Jennifer. Survived by the love of his life and wife of 42 years, Amparo. Daughters- Liza (Robby), Lucilla "Iya" (Lito), Sons- Ben Jr. (Helene), Hilario, and Adrian (Linda). Brothers- Ernie (Nene), Floro (Linda), Rudy (Kathy), Pete, Aurelio (Maria), and his one and only sister Norma. Grandchildren- Jazmine, Jannell, Ruben, Jilleanne (Angelo), Jacqueline, James Jr., Haeley, Joey, Desiree, Tyler, Alyssa, Nathan, & Persy. Great Grandchildren- Adam, Luke, Cody, Janae, Felix, Isaiah, Aliyah, Lil' Ryan, and Kyron. Numerous nieces, nephews, friends and relatives here in United States and the Philippines. Ben's passion for cooking led him to pursue a career in Culinary. He worked at Clark Air Base in Angeles City, Phil.. He was a cook for the late Pres. Marcos in Jomalig, Island until it was hit and destroyed by a typhoon. He moved on and found employment at PhilComSat in Tanay, Rizal. He met his wife while stationed at that City and upon marriage, he and his wife lived in Antipolo, Rizal for many years. When work finally ended, Ben and his family moved and settled in his wife's hometown in Pamplona, Camarines Sur (Bicol Province). This was a semi-retirement for him and there he enjoyed going to "Sabongan" (cockfighting). He came to United States with his daughters on June 13, 1979, and he and his daughters lived with his sister and her family in Santa Clara, Ca. He continued to pursue his passion for cooking and worked for various hotels. Ben worked hard and was a good provider to his family. With hard work, he was able to petition and bring his wife and sons to United States. He retired at the age of 65 years old. He enjoyed hanging out at the local bar with some of the SF 49er football players and spent his weekends at the Flea Market. Golf was his favorite sport and he played it well, but above all Ben loved spending time with his Grandchildren. Ben was Generous, Kind, Loving, Quick Witted and Funny. Though he will be missed, He will never be forgotten and will always remain in our Hearts.
