Obituary of Amy Yayoi Katsura
Amy Yayoi Katsura passed away peacefully on Monday May 7th, 2012, at Grant Cuesta Nursing Home in Mountain View, at the age of 57. Born to Blanca and Ted Katsura on March 17, 1955, Amy was the oldest of five girls. She attended Riverview Elementary School, and later Monte Vista. Upon graduation, she became a client of the ARC Regional Center in Reedley, and was employed there for nearly thirty years. Amy was an avid bowler and a gold medalist at the Special Olympics. Born in the same year that Disneyland was opened, she became a fan of all things related to Disney, especially the movies and music. She also enjoyed listening to country western music, and traveling. Some of her most memorable vacations were to Hawaii, Japan and of course, Disneyland! However, her favorite trips by far were to visit family. She is survived by her mother, Blanca Sadako Katsura, her sisters Lynn Abe, Leslie Katsura, Katherine Katsura and Patty Katsura, and their respective families. She was predeceased by her father, Ted U. Katsura. Memorial services will be held at Spangler's Mortuary in Sunnyvale on Sunday May 27th, 2012, at 10:30 am. The family respectfully requests no flowers or donations. The family wishes to extend particular gratitude to the staff and clients of the ARC Regional Center, and to the community for their friendship and support of Amy over her lifetime.
